Eucharistic Adoration

ADOREMUS Third Friday of the month: 7:30-8:30 p.m.–. A contemporary experience of Eucharistic Adoration includes songs of praise and worship, Scripture, preaching, silence and Benediction. A memorable experience of worshipping the Lord in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Eucharistic Adoration is an important part of our Catholic devotional life. Rather than limiting Eucharistic Adoration to a one-on-one experience with the Lord in his Eucharistic presence, Eucharistic Adoration also can broaden our personal experience of worship and praise, stretching us to embrace all our senses as we offer ourselves to the Lord through a time of humble and reverent worship.

Presently, our parish family offers Eucharistic Adoration on the first Friday of every month. During that time we pray the psalms associated with the Liturgy of the Hours. I would like to increase our opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration by offering an additional time on the third Friday of every month.

We’re calling this third-Friday-of the-month experience Adoremus which, roughly translated, means “Let us worship.” The word was chosen to describe this time of adoration because it echoes our heavenly destiny of praising God ceaselessly in the whole company of angels and saints. At each Adoremus service, we will unite our worship with theirs, seeking to echo the eternal song of all creation with our presence, our voices, our prayer, and our silent adoration.

The format of the hour is simple. We will begin at 7:30 p.m. with about ten-to fifteen minutes of songs carefully chosen to lead us into a prayerful and “worshipfull” stance before God. Once we have prepared our hearts, there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and a brief Scripture reading and reflection so we can hear again the promise of God proclaimed. This will be followed by a time of silence, with one or two songs interspersed. We end with Benediction using the Church’s traditional prayers and songs.

Our hope is that the entire parish takes advantage of this wonderful opportunity to put aside time from our busy schedules to worship the God who gives us everything. The entire service will take one hour. If you can’t stay for the entire hour, feel free to share at least part of that time with the Lord and with those who have gathered to worship and adore.
