Our parish’s Office of Evangelization and Faith Formation is available for children who need sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion. According to diocesan guidelines, this is a two-year program. Here at Assumption Parish, a child usually begins in the first grade and celebrates First Eucharist in May of the second grade. Children in the second grade and above who have not begun preparing for the celebration of this sacrament are invited to participate in our parish program.
For additional information contact our director, Denise Materazo (631-588-6408 ext. 106) or by email, Dmaterazo@abvmcenterach.com or Julie Mercado at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Classes for students, grades 3 through 6, take place during the week. Depending upon the availability of a catechist, the classes usually take place on Monday, Tuesday, or Saturday.
The Diocese requires a two-year formation period for the celebration of this sacrament.
Here at Assumption parish, this program begins first year in grade 6 (Level 6) and second year in grade 7, with the student participating in classes which take place during the week: usually Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday (depending upon the catechist’s availability).
Please note based on our past registration numbers, we are offering three class times for levels 1-2-5 and 6 and two class times for levels 3 and 4. Level 7, who are preparing for Confirmation in Fall 2022 will be meeting together on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 8pm. All registrations will be taken on a first come first-served basis and class sizes are limited. Please register early if you would like a specific day of the week and time.
All forms will be available online at www.abvmcentereach.com, starting on Thursday, July 1, 2021, and registration will end on Wednesday, September 3, 2021.
