Our goal as always at Assumption Faith Formation Program is to help children grow in their relationship with God and to live as disciples of Jesus at home, in school, and their community while developing an understanding of Scripture and our Catholic faith.
We have been preparing a program that meets the standards of faith formation and diocesan guidelines, while at the same time following all CDC guidelines for health and safety. We are planning to start our formation year in person; however, we follow the actions of the Middle Country School District and may need to transfer classes to an online forum should the district decide to do so.
To make this possible for our children, we will need volunteers for the following:
– substitute catechists
– cleaning and sanitizing between classes (even if you can offer 20 minutes per week)
– security
To facilitate the registration process, we will now be using an online form. Online Registration will begin on Saturday, August 1st at www.abvmcentereach.com.We are limiting class size for each session, so please register as soon as possible if you would like a specific day and time.

Our parish’s Office of Faith Formation is available for children who need sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion. According to diocesan guidelines, this is a two-year program. Here at Assumption Parish, a child usually begins in the first grade and celebrates First Eucharist in May of the second grade. Children in the second grade and above who have not started preparing for the celebration of this sacrament are invited to participate in our parish program.
The diocesan guidelines require a two-year formation period for the celebration of this sacrament. Here at Assumption parish, this program begins in grade 6 (Level 6) with the student participating in classes that take place during the week: Monday and Tuesday.
Payment this year will be collected online during the registration process, and payment will be required in full at the time of Registration. We have taken into consideration the effect Covid-19 has had on families and temporarily lowered registration fees for the 2020 / 2021 year.
The parish offers a 20% discounted registration fee for a child or grandchild of Faith Formation volunteer. (e.g., catechist, small group facilitator, security, office help, hospitality, etc.)
1 Student* $150.00 $130.00
2 Siblings* $250.00 $200.00
3+ Siblings* $325.00 $260.00
*There is an additional $30 Sacramental Fee for all of those registering for Confirmation II/ Level 7 and Confirmation II/Level 8
The Level 1 program will be conducted differently from other levels. The Level 1 program is designed to be an easy, parent-led curriculum that enables you to understand and engage the faith at home.
